The clock and Clock

The Clock:

“The basic timing signal in a digital system is called clock.” Timing is essential in PC operations. Timing allows the electronic device in the computer to coordinate and execute all internal commands in the proper order. Placing a special conductor in the CPU and pulse it with voltage achieves timing. Each pulse of voltage received by the conductor is called a clock cycle.”

Clock Speed:

The clock speed measured in (MHZ) or millions of cycles per second. PC, s today operates in the range of 100 MHZ to 1.7GHZ. Clock speed is determined by the CPU manufacturer and represents the fastest speed at which the CPU can be reliably operated. The Intel 8088 processor as used in the original IBM PC, had a clock speed of 4.77 MHZ.
