System Resources

System Resources 

System resources are the communication channels, addresses, and other signals used by hardware devices to communicate on the bus. At their lowest level, these resources typically included the following:

§ IRQ (Interrupt Request) Channel
§ DMA (Direct Memory Access) Channel
§ I/O Port Address

These resources are required and used by many components of the system. Every adapter card needs these resources to communicate with the system. Not all adapter cards have the same resource requirements, for example serial communication port need an IRQ channel and I/O port address, while a sound card needs these resources with addition of DMA channel.
